With Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, two of the world’s leading semiconductor companies, investing a combined 100 trillion won, Yongin City is emerging as a global hub for the semiconductor industry, drawing attention from around the world. Last year, Yongin City unveiled a new integrated city brand that embodies its status as a 1.5 million metropolitan city and its vision for the future.

The integrated city brand is inspired by the “Yong” character of Yongin, featuring a central shape and a circular design at the top and bottom. The circle at the top represents Yongin’s future growth into a metropolis of 1.5 million people, while the circle at the bottom embodies Yongin’s status as a cutting-edge semiconductor hub. The central shape embodies the dragon, symbolizing a sustainable city where cutting-edge industries and natural environments coexist in harmony, and also captures the image of a lively, citizen-centric city that’s full of energy and enthusiasm.

The integrated city brand’s color palette is comprised of three distinct hues: a rich purple representing the cutting-edge semiconductor industry and the city’s status as a hub for innovation, a vibrant turquoise symbolizing the harmony between nature and technology, and a deep purple that embodies the city’s creative and dynamic energy. This embodies the dynamic city image of Yongin and its future as a globally competitive city.

Building on this award, the city aims to gradually integrate its urban brand into all aspects of governance and daily life, ultimately creating a brand that citizens can feel and experience. The city also aims to leverage its strengths and unique brand identity in various domestic and international fields, and will actively utilize the integrated brand to enhance its competitiveness and build a robust urban infrastructure. Mayor Lee Sang-il noted that the integrated city brand of Yongin Special City has successfully captured the city’s image, which is rapidly evolving into a world-class semiconductor industry hub, as well as its future vision and the aspirations of its citizens. He added that Yongin, with a population of over 1.1 million, embodies the city’s grandeur as it embarks on its journey to become a metropolitan city.
