Yangban, Korea’s first HMR brand, was born in 1986 with a philosophy that ” Ingredients must live to be delicious.” It adheres to this principle by using high-quality natural ingredients and traditional methods. The brand slogan of Yangban is “The Original Taste of Korean Cuisine.” The philosophy is to preserve the fundamental essence of Korean cuisine while also offering the benefits of taste and convenience.

Among its flagship products, ‘Yangban Kim’ marks its 40th anniversary, while ‘Yangban Porridge’ has been a constant presence on the nation’s tables for over 30 years. Adding staples like rice, kimchi, and soups, as well as traditional drinks like sikhye, sujeonggwa, and omija tea, makes it easy to create a well-rounded Korean meal with a rich balance of flavors and nutrients.

Notably, Yangban porridge was the pioneer of convenience food, and at a time when the concept of “product porridge” didn’t even exist, Dongwon F&B introduced “tuna porridge” and took on the challenge of popularizing and commercializing a traditional food staple. Over the years, products like abalone porridge, vegetable porridge, and chestnut red bean porridge have become steady bestsellers, with cumulative sales reaching a staggering 1 billion units over the past 30 years.

The company has seen sales growth recently, driven by its renewed instant rice product, “Yangban 100 Rice”, which was launched last year. The Yangban 100-bob 7 types saw a growth of over 70% compared to the previous year. The secret to its popularity lies in its ability to perfectly capture the fresh, just-cooked flavor and aroma of rice made with 100% water and rice, such as sticky rice, black rice, and omija rice.The authentic cauldron method, along with its compact 130g packaging, has won the hearts of young people. In April, Dongwon F&B plans to launch new products in collaboration with Icheon and Yeoju, two cities in Gyeonggi Province known for their rice.
