Goesan-gun has been promoting organic farming as a core strategic industry since 2007, when it became the first county in Korea to declare itself an eco-friendly organic farming county. The county has since successfully hosted the Goesan World Organic Industry Expo twice, in 2015 and 2022.

The industry has been recognized for its value in line with the current trend of prioritizing the global environment, which is reflected in its various policy achievements, including the establishment of an eco-friendly organic farming foundation, expanded organic certification, and expanded agricultural product markets. This achievement marks a 14-year streak of being recognized as the top eco-friendly organic farming city.

Goesan Clean Pepper, a local specialty agricultural product born from the region’s natural beauty and the dedication of farmers, has earned high praise for its commitment to rigorous quality control and a stable distribution system, which has helped build consumer trust. This achievement has been recognized with the top prize in the pepper category for four consecutive years.

County Governor Song In-hun said, “Goesan-gun has long prioritized the environment as its top value and has been consistently implementing eco-friendly organic farming at the heart of its local agricultural policies to achieve a clean Goesan that harmonizes with nature.” This award has given me immense pride, as it acknowledges our efforts to provide healthy food, preserve a clean environment, and promote sustainable agriculture for the benefit of future generations, both domestically and internationally. “I would like to extend my sincerest appreciation to the consumers who have shown a special love for Goesan-gun and its agricultural specialties.” Goesan-gun will host the “Goesan Red Flavor Festival” from May 22 to 24, a three-day celebration that has become a beloved spring festival for the entire nation.
