Yeosu, the International Marine Tourism Resort City

Yeosu boasts outstanding natural landscapes such as Hallyeohaesang National Park and Dadohaehaesang National Park. It is known as the ‘City of Romance and Healing,’ with its pristine waters along the southern coast, including 365 jewel-like islands and a mild climate throughout the year.

Attractions such as the ‘Hyangilam’ where people pray for their wishes at sunrise, ‘Odongdo’, the Camellia Island, ‘Geumodo’ with fantastic rock formations, ‘Gasari Reed Eco Park’ with the picturesque sunsets, and ‘Jangdo’, the art island offer abundant sightseeing opportunities. The city offers diverse entertainment options, such as romantic busking on weekend nights, sea-crossing cable cars, 3D theme park Art Land, U-world Luge Theme Park, evening cruises with fireworks over the sea, and Noctemare Media Art Museum. The city also offers a variety of culinary delights throughout the year. Representative specialties such as Dolsan Leaf Mustard Kimchi, Crab Rice Set Meal, and Grilled Eel can be enjoyed year-round. Seasonal seafood delights such as Ridged-eye Flounder and Mugwort Soup and Sliced Raw Tongue Sole Salad in spring, Sea Eel Shabu-Shabu in summer, Braised Cutlassfish, Sliced Raw Gizzard Shad and Grilled Gizzard Shad in autumn, and Egg Cockle Shabu-Shabu and Grilled Oysters in winter delight the palate.

Yeosu aims to enhance its appeal as a sustainable tourism city by utilizing its differentiated tourism resources. Yeosu will lead trends in domestic marine tourism, including △’activation of island tourism’ represented by Yeosu’s island route, △’development of wellness tourism’ focusing on healing, △ ‘formation of global smart tourism city’ providing one-stop tailored tourism services, and △’formation of specialized night city tour ’ organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. At the same time, it is also preparing to leap forward as an international marine tourism city by actively promoting international cruise tourism, including cruise infrastructure development, administrative support, and incentive programs for foreign tourists, in response to the resumption of overseas travel. Furthermore, it plans to propel itself onto the international stage through the ‘2026 Yeosu World Island Expo’.
