Q1. Is there any change which matchmaking agencies have been recently facing?

As the communication with outside world is reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic and it is obvious that social connections are disappearing due to the rapid increase of single person households, matchmaking agencies are changing from an agency where people visit because it is difficult to find a partner to an agency to find the opportunity to meet someone. Beyond the concept of ‘matchmaker’, matchmaking agencies are in the process to be enterprise by developing couple managers with specialty based on scientific systems and an enormous amount of data.

Q2. What differentiates Suhyeon from its competitors?

Suhyeon realizes its value ‘perfection of marriage’ through quality services, including private parties and social parties for those who are well-matched, using eight 5-star hotels, including the Marriott Hotel and the Lotte Hotel as the place for meetings for the first time in the industry.

Matchmaking agencies deal with ‘sensitive information’ and personal information of clients. So, it’s very important to secure the values of ‘honesty and confidence.’ Suhyeon strictly complies with the identity authentication process related to clients’ information, including jobs, family background, financial ability, religion, and educational background. Though such efforts, Suhyeon was recognized as a very reliable company in accordance with the number of consumer damages below 1% ,from the statistical survey results conducted by consumer-related organizations, the including Fair Trade Commission and the Korea Consumer Protection Board.

Q3. What do you think about the improvement of awareness on matchmaking agencies?

I was surprised because lots of people had prejudices or a wrong awareness on matchmaking agencies until now. For the development of matchmaking the business, I thought it was very important to change such prejudices. It was urgent to make clients feel ‘it’s a great service for me’ and to think they are with the leading experts in the field of finding partners who will share their life.

Q4. What will be your priority in your business in the future?

When we innovated the system to make couple managers get reasonable treatment, the marriage rate of members in professional fields was over 84%. The increasing number of long-term employed and couple managers with more than 10 years’ experience solved the problem that personal information of clients was disclosed, the chronic issue in the industry. In consideration of those results, Suhyeon will focus on securing confidence and reliability from clients more than ever.
