In the records in Chapter 45 of ‘King Pyeonghaegun’ and Uljin-hyeon Chapter in the Newly Expanded Geographical Encyclopaedia of Korea, ‘snow crab’ is mentioned as ‘purple crab (紫蟹)’. The records indicate that ‘snow crab’ was listed as a major specialty from long ago. Uljin snow crab contains rich protein essential amino acids (lysine, lysin, methionine, etc.), and is very good for children during their growth period. In particular, Uljin snow crab is savory because of the low fat content and it is good for convalescent patients because it is easily digested.
