Kyunghee Cyber University(President Byun Chang-gu) was established in 2001 as the first cyber university in Korea. It has garnered high praise from various external institutions for providing excellent learning environments and methods. Additionally, it is recognized for its expertise in the field of online education.

Kyunghee Cyber University was designated as △a top-rated university in 2007, the remote university evaluation, △ as the best university in the cyber education capacity evaluation in 2013, and △ received an A grade in the 2020 remote university certification and competency diagnosis. Furthermore, it solidified its ‘expertise in the educational content field’ and the educational contents categories by receiving △ the commendation from the Minister of Education/Deputy Prime Minister for 2 consecutive years for its contributions to cyber university development in 2021, △ the Minister’s Prize for two consecutive years in the Happy Together Social Contribution Campaign in 2022, and △ the grand prize in the education service category for 3 consecutive years in the Customer Impression Management Awards in 2023.

Moreover, in line with its founding spirit of ‘Learning and Peace,’ Kyunghee Cyber University is endeavoring to spread the Korean language and culture domestically and internationally by collaborating with institutions such as the Ministry of Justice, the Sejong Hakdang Foundation, and the Korea Foundation (KF). The university was selected for the ‘KF Global e-School Korean Education Project’ conducted by KF. Since 2018, it has been providing online Korean language course content to universities in Mexico, Paraguay, China, Taiwan, and other countries. In 2021, it participated in the Sejong Hakdang Foundation’s ‘Online Sejong Hakdang Operation Project,’ laying the foundation for the establishment of Korean language centers. Building on this, it was also selected as a ‘General Operating Organization for the Social Integration Program’ managed by the Ministry of Justice and has been offering Korean language culture, and society classes for domestic immigrants.

In 2023, Kyunghee Cyber University was selected as the host research institution for the delegated operation of the 7th World Humanities Forum for the first time as a cyber university. the humanities field, both domestic and international, as keynote speakers, conducting a humanities academic conference of ‘global standards.’ Through this event, Kyunghee Cyber University demonstrated its capabilities in academic research and exchange.
