Jincheon in Chungcheongbuk-do has been gaining attention as a “convergent premium region” due to its remarkable achievements in the fields of culture, tourism, and sports. In the cultural sector, Jincheon opened Korea’s first-ever multi-functional story content complex, the K-Story Creation Cluster, which integrates writing, accommodation and education functions in June 2024. This facility provides creators with a creative environment and positioning itself as a central hub for Hallyu content.
In addition, last August, Jincheon established the Chungbuk Province’s first public symphony orchestra, elevating the region to the status of a “cultural and arts city.” Significant changes are also taking place in tourism. Jincheon has developed various infrastructures, including △309m Mujutap Tower, △Cheopyeongho Mir309 Suspension Bridge, the longest suspension bridge in Korea, △1.2km Yellow Earth Barefoot Trail, △Waterfall Viewing Deck, △STATION Nongdari Café and The Mir Café, and △Christmas tree and night-time landscape. As a result, the number of visitors to the Nongdari Tourist Area, which was around 300,000 annually, surged to over 1.7 million last year, establishing it as a national tourist hotspot.

In the sports sector, Jincheon hosted the 63rd Chungbuk Provincial Sports Festival for the first time in 17 years, lasting for three days and boosting regional sports enthusiasm. In December, Jincheon, Woosuk University, and the Jincheon Sports Association signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to lay the groundwork for the city’s transition into a sports-specialized city and established a framework for collaboration and the mutual exchange of human and material resources.
