Jincheon-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do has emerged as a business-friendly city with competitiveness by attracting good enterprises and increasing employment and population.

Jincheon-gun recorded an increase of population for 100 consecutive months, the only province achieving such an increase among 82 provinces in Korea. The GRDP per capital (gross regional domestic production), inversely proportional to the number of population, can increase depending on reduction of population. However, the GRDP of Jincheon-gun per capita is 90.39 Million KRW, 4th among cities and provinces, and 1st among provinces. Jincheon-gun is standing as an economic city with the best competitiveness in Korea.

Jincheon-gun successfully attracted big enterprises in Korea, including Hanhwa Solution, CJ Jeiljedang, and Lotte Global Logis through the progressive attraction of investment. On the basis of attraction of big enterprises, Jincheon-gun made an inspiring achievement of ‘over 1 Trillion KRW investment for 7 consecutive years’. Accordingly, the amount of investment attracted from 2016 to this year exceeded 10 Trillion KRW.

In accordance with progressive activities, Jincheon-gun ranked 2nd in RDI (Regional Development Index) among provinces. It is analyzed that such an achievement was due to the rapid progress in local economic power. The success of Jincheon-gun was realized by establishing a virtuous cycle model for local development which ‘investment by enterprises creates a large quantity of jobs and population according to the increase of jobs, which activates the local economy’.

Jincheon-gun is evaluated to become an economic power province ▲ ranking top in GRDP per capita in Chungcheongbuk-do for 11 consecutive years, ▲ ranking second among provinces in regional development index, ▲ increasing population for 100 consecutive months, ▲ focusing on the mining and manufacturing industries, and ▲ranking top in employment rate and wage per capita in Chungcheongbuk-do.

In 2021, Jincheon-gun confirmed the construction of a metropolitan inland railroad passing through Jincheon-gun in the 4th National Railroad Plan, proposing it at first and playing the leading role in the planning. Jincheon-gun has been endeavoring to start the construction of a metropolitan inland railroad earlier in cooperation with four cities and provinces (Jincheon-gun, Cheongju, Hwaseong and Anseong). Through the endeavor, a feasibility survey was started. The project has drawn attention as an element of the transportation infrastructure to play an important role for balanced national developmentas well as the future of Jincheon-gun. In accordance with construction of a railroad, Jincheon-gun will play a significant roles in attracting leading enterprises.

Furthermore, Jincheon-gun is implementing seven prestigious industrial complex construction projects for leading the local economy. Of them, Jincheon-gun executed am investment agreement of total 157.4 Billion KRW with 5 enterprises to move to Jincheon Technopolis Industrial Complex. As such, Jincheon-gun keeps endeavoring to be a dynamic economic city by forming an investment environment ahead of the times.
