As Jincheon County marks the second year of implementing ESG governance, it has expanded and revised its ‘Jincheon-style ESG Double-Up’ initiative from 84 to 104 subprojects. ESG stands for Environment, Social, and Governance, representing a global management trend that evaluates non-financial factors impacting organizational value and sustainability from a long-term perspective.

Since last year, the county has been the first in Chungbuk to introduce ‘Jincheon-style ESG Double-Up’ into its administration. It pursues a tailored strategy that adds regional economic and industrial structural characteristics to the existing concept of ESG.

Through this, the county aims to concentrate its administrative capabilities to ensure the highest level of quantitative growth, such as △17 consecutive years of population growth and △the highest employment growth rate outside of metropolitan areas, leading to urban sustainability and improvement in residents’ quality of life. The county has delegated comprehensive coordination and deliberation authority over ESG Double-Up to the ‘Jincheon County 2050 Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Committee to secure connectivity and effectiveness among subprojects along with expertise.
Furthermore, it mandates all 29 departments, including the headquarters, affiliated agencies, and project offices, to implement at least one ESG project. It also reviews budget allocation processes to prioritize ESG project budgets and strengthens administrative and financial foundations.
