Incheon National University (President Jong-Tae Park) has won the top prize in the National Public University category for three consecutive years at the ‘2024 Korea National Brand Awards’, following its victories in 2022 and 2023. The ‘Korea National Brand Awards’ is hosted by one of the world’s top three advertising festivals, the New York Festivals, and is sponsored by Chosun Ilbo. It annually selects and announces the leading brands in various fields representing Korea based on the National Brand Competitiveness Index.
Established in 1979 as a private university, Incheon National University was converted into a municipal university in 1994 and then into a national university in 2013. Prior to its transformation into a national university, the entire campus relocated from Jemulpo to Songdo International City in 2009. In 2010, the unprecedented merger of Incheon National University and Incheon Technical College brought about remarkable changes and innovation. Last year, marking the 10th anniversary of its transformation into a national university, Incheon National University compiled a white paper to summarize its achievements over the years.
Incheon National University has achieved remarkable progress in education, research, employment, and various other fields with active financial support from Incheon Metropolitan City and the state government, fueled by the efforts of its members. It ranked 21st in the 2022→2023 Chosun Ilbo University Rankings and climbed to 4th place among national universities, approaching the top 10 universities in Korea. Furthermore, its global standing has been reinforced, ranking of 18th in the 2023 World University Real Impact (WURI) evaluation.
President Jong-Tae Park remarked, “Despite its relatively short history, Incheon National University has great potential, and has demonstrated unprecedented innovation and growth.” He further stated, “We will solidify our position as a regional hub national university by establishing a research-oriented university system, devising ways to utilize the Jemulpo campus in harmony with local residents, upgrading university operating systems, and enhancing our university’s reputation.“
Moreover, he emphasized, “We will grow into a regional hub national university that contributes to the local community and the nation by establishing a public medical school to cultivate outstanding doctors and medical scientists, preventing and investigating epidemics, and developing vaccines.”
