Q1. What is the value pursued by the city brand ‘MeMeWe Gangnam’?

Gangnam-gu created ‘MeMeWe Gangnam’, the first style brand among local authorities in 2020. The style brand contains the values and messages pursued by the city and shows the unique identity of the city, like ‘I♡NY’ for New York and ‘I am sterdam’ for Amsterdam.

Gangnam has been identified by its external images, including ‘Rich Village’ and the idea shown in ‘Gangnam Style’ by Psy up to now. To be a ‘city of dignity’, Gangnam created the city brand ‘MeMeWe Gangnam’, expressing the values and philosophies of Gangnam.

‘MeMeWe Gangnam’ means ‘Gangnam for me (ME), you (Me) and us (We)’ and pursues ‘a Gangnam of Dignity, cooperating with, considering, and respecting each other’. ‘Me’ was used twice to emphasize that ‘you are another I’.

Q2. What approaches have been implemented to make citizens understand the values of ‘MeMeWe Gangnam’?

An integrated road map for the style brand was established for citizens and visitors to sympathize with and to easily access MeMeWe through a variety of channels, including SNS.

Moreover, Gangnam-gu induced familiarization with ‘MeMeWe’ by applying ‘MeMeWe’ to public facilities or promotional materials of Gangnam-gu, including benches at bus stops, garbage trucks, and sun shelters. Gangnam-gu is also deploying projects to expand the values of MeMeWe, including the ‘MeMeWe Gallery’, showing works by new artists on construction site screens, the ‘Hope Donation Relay Campaign’, to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic through voluntary participation and the ‘R-G Project’ for the next generation and for coping with the global environmental crisis.

For expanding public values of ‘consideration and respect’, Gangnam-gu has been carrying out social contribution activities, including CSV programs and sharing with the socially vulnerable in order to accelerate local development through win-win cooperation with local residents and enterprises in Gangnam-gu.

Through the projects and policies above, Gangnam-gu devotes itself to realizing the true spirit of Gangnam MeMeWe by enabling local residents to directly participate in and solve local issues and ultimately complete the community values of sharing with and considering others for external growth and development.
