Danyang Garlic is the specialty protected with its geographical name by the Agricultural Products Quality Control Act, being designated as Korea Geographical Indication No. 29 of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs in 2007.

Harmonizing a long history and the scent of culture and arts, including clean nature and the environment, Suyanggae Prehistoric Sites, and Ondalsanseong Fortress, Danyang-gun is equipped with the optimum conditions for garlic farming, including ▲ limestone zone, ▲ sub-acid soil close to neutrality, and ▲ a significant daily temperature range.

Danyang Garlic is called ‘summer solstice garlic’ because it is harvested around the summer solstice. It is famous as prestigious garlic in Korea because of the remarkably high quality and efficacies greater than other garlics. It is good to store because it is piquant and hard. It’s also delicious and has good flavor. Allicin is effective against cancers and adult diseases, and Dangyang Garlic contains more than other garlic. Thus, Danyang Garlic is very popular. While Danyang Garlic is a bit more expensive than other garlic, Danyang Garlic has a flood of orders from all over the country every harvesting season and contributes to increasing farmers’ incomes.

Danyang-gun supports packing materials, logistics, and sorting expenses with an exclusive integrated marketing organization that operates agricultural products distribution and processing in order to enhance the competitiveness of Danyang Garlic. Furthermore, Danyang-gun endeavors to promote ‘prestigious agricultural products’ by securing a variety of new distribution channels, including home shopping and live commerce.

Danyang-gun will holds the Danyang Garlic Festival in July this year. Danyang-gun will communicate with the public through ▲Danyang Garlic Farmers’ Market, ▲ garlic-related food market, ▲ exhibition booth, and ▲ a variety of performances and events. In particular, Danyang-gun will tentatively implement the Danyang Garlic Production Certification System’ for enhancing consumers’ reliability on the quality and safety through the Garlic Festival this year.
