Global restaurant franchise Genesis BBQ Group (“BBQ”) is experiencing explosive growth in the U.S. market. As of 2023, BBQ operates over 150 stores in 22 states and plans to expand to over 200 stores within the year.

BBQ opened its first flagship store on Manhattan’s 32nd Street in 2017 and expanded to cities like Chicago and Los Angeles. In 2022, it opened its second flagship store in the U.S. on Manhattan’s 3rd Avenue. Adhering to the location requirements of being adjacent to offices and universities, the first floor operates as ‘Grab and Go’ for busy professionals, while the second floor offers a ‘Chicken and Beer’ concept for enjoying ‘chimera.

BBQ presents Korean-style chicken, fried to be crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, with various seasonings, sauces, and recipes developed in-house. Its strength lies in offering a variety of cuts such as boneless, wings, and drumsticks. BBQ’s fast and friendly service has also received praise. Chairman Yun Hong-geun stated, “Bold investments and the dedication of our employees have enabled us to pioneer the global market,” adding, “We have succeeded in localization by introducing consumer preferences and favorite menus.”

Meanwhile, in June 2022, BBQ ranked second in ‘The fastest-growing restaurant brands in the U.S.’ announced by the global restaurant industry publication Nation’s Restaurant News. It was the only Korean franchise to be mentioned. Additionally, in August 2022, BBQ received recognition for its contribution to economic development and job creation in New Jersey, receiving a commendation from the New Jersey State Legislature.
