Greeting its 10th anniversary since its change to a national university this year, Incheon National University started as a private university in 1979, became a municipal university in 1994, and finally changed itself to a national university in 2013. The entire campus of the university was transferred from Jemulpo to Songdo International City in 2009 and Incheon National University completed its transformation and innovation by integrating Incheon University and Incheon College in 2010.

Since the change to a national university , Incheon National University secures active financial support from Incheon Metropolitan Government and the state government and shows remarkable advancements in education, research, employment, and startup/college evaluation through ceaseless efforts. Chairman Park Jong-tae, appointed in 2021 said, “Incheon National University represents Incheon in Songdo International City, the global hub of bio-industry. Incheon National University is developing next generation talents leading the bio-industry of Korea, aiming to be a top 10 universities in Korea and top 100 university in the world.” Chairman Park pointed out, “Incheon National University always endeavors to contribute to local and national development by communicating with local communities as well as developing leaders through good employment and startup programs.”
